Today was a crazy day at work. Covered my first court hearing, wrote a crime story, did some exit polling and covered an event where friends, family and classmates of 15-year-old cancer survivor surprised her with a volleyball court that sat on top of 16 40-foot-long steel cargo containers 20 feet above the ground.
And to top it all off, I ate three slices of pepperoni pizza, thanks to my editor, who ordered three pies for the newsroom.
My biweekly feature, where I explore the Muskegon area and write about what I find.
This week: Arts Council of White Lake Art Walk Sculptures.
So this happened at work today…
I’ve spent a good chunk of the past week working on multimedia packages for work (1, 2, 3). MLive’s entertainment team has been working on the “Michigan Coney Dog Project,” which is basically a quest to find the best coney dog in the state (it’s similar to a chili dog, for you all you East Coasters who have no idea what I’m talking about).
They asked each market to find their two best places, then to write a piece about the way each restaurant makes their coneys and do a quick video (guess who taught herself how to edit iPhone footage in FCP?).
Even though it was really hectic - I’m the only entertainment reporter at the Chronicle so I still had to fill a section that week - it was actually a lot of fun (I got paid to eat chili dogs!) and it was great doing some video again.
That said, I don’t think I’m eating chili/coney dogs for awhile…
New clip, new internship.
